Little Pink Houses

I hate to be cliché, but happy freakin' Friday everyone!

I'm in an unusually good mood this morning, partially because it's Friday, partially because it's payday, partially because I got a bonus, and partially because Maddie and Tae were on the Bobby Bones Show this morning and killed it with their live performances. Those girls are adorable. I luff them. Moving on.

Those of you who were here a few days ago know that we went on our very first house hunt yesterday. We had five houses we were going to look at, and it turned out that one of them (the one we were most excited about) was already under contract. So poop on that person.

I had promised photos of all of the houses, but to be honest, there really was only one that warranted any photos being taken of it, and we still have a few issues to figure out with it.

I will, however, show you photos of one house that I'm stealing from its listing offline. So technically I'm showing you two houses that we looked at. Hhhwhatever.

House Numero Uno

This house was just as cute in person as it was in the photos, but it was also just as small as I thought it would be. 857sqft is just too little for us. It was laid out well, the hardwood floor made the whole place smell like mahogany, and the backyard was incredible, but otherwise it had some small roof issues and was at the top of our budget, for the absolute least space. We moved on.

House Numero Dos

Let's talk about this house...

This house has a LOT of potential. The lot is incredible and the location is awesome. There isn't a single neighbors house that can see into our back yard, and the roof and water system are brand spankin' new. The owner trimmed all of the trees so insurance won't be a problem, and the master bedroom is HUGE.

There are a few issues that are holding us back a little. The layout of the living room is absolutely bonkers. It doesn't seem bonkers at first, as it just looks like a big box, but once you start trying to place you're furniture you realize you're SOL unless you have the worlds tiniest furniture/butt ever. Here is a drawing to give you an idea:

With the placement of the front door and window, I just canNOT figure out how to fit our furniture in this space without you walking right into the sofa. Our stuff is too big and the space is too small.

So that's what we're working with.

We're going to look at 4 or 5 more houses on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes.

Wish us luck!

  1. Ahh the house hunt...the world's worst combination of exciting and nerve wracking. Good luck!

  2. Good luck! That first one is SUPER adorable but I feel your pain on small space. Our apartment is around 980 sq ft. which is too small in our opinion. Everywhere you turn you're running into someone if you're not tripping over your own feet!
